Welcome to Mercy College Belfast

Welcome to Mercy College Belfast.

Mercy College Belfast is a successful post-primary school situated in North Belfast. Since I started in Mercy College I continue to be impressed by the friendly and supportive environment that exists within the school.

As a school founded on the principals of the Mercy Order, we strive to ensure that all our pupils achieve their full potential. It is our role as teachers to lead by example and to explore with our pupils their own particular areas of interest and strengths.

We offer a full and varied curriculum for our pupils, which we feel when coupled with our broad range of extra-curricular activities provides our pupils a unique experience during their post-primary years. School is where friendships are formed that often last a lifetime so we appreciate the need to find the balance between successful study and a focus on results with the need for school to be a rewarding and enjoyable experience.

This is an exciting time for the school community, as the new technologies enable us to reach out to past pupils and friends of the school as well as enabling us to communicate the history and traditions of the school on a world-wide stage.

Whilst continuing to respect and value the philosophy and ethos of the school, we must remember that this philosophy embraces the need to re-examine our goals and objectives, in order to be able to respond creatively to the needs of each new age. We are committed to upholding the Mercy tradition of the school, whilst striving to embrace the emerging demands on Catholic education within our society, in order to build upon our past achievements and ensure the future success of the school.

This may be through further education and going off to University after Mercy College and/or through the pursuit of a rewarding career.

“A case study for best practice” Inspector’s Report

As a parent you only want the best for your child. At Mercy College we believe only the best is good enough for our pupils.

We welcome regular contact with parents, as we find that those pupils who achieve the most during their time at Mercy College are those who receive the most support and encouragement from both home and school.

We are therefore very pleased to have introduced the Home School Partnership in an attempt to facilitate a close working relationships between pupils, parents and teachers.
